It All began with a Simple Belief

Music for Memories was founded in 2018 around one clear idea: personalised music can reconnect people with their memories, identity and the people they love.

What followed was built through the dedication of our trustees and volunteers, who turned that belief into practical support for people living with dementia and other forms of memory loss.

Through years of commitment, care and determination, they created and sustained a charity that listens to individual life stories, builds deeply personal playlists and provides simple, accessible music units on loan, free of charge.

In March 2024, Music for Memories Charity began a new chapter, expanding its reach, strengthening partnerships and growing its volunteer community—while remaining true to the foundations created by those who built it.

Today, every playlist and every music unit carries that work forward.

A person is not their diagnosis. They are a lifetime of memories.

Music for Memories has been shaped and sustained by trustees who have given their time, skills and commitment to build the charity and carry its work forward.

Their contribution – often behind the scenes – has made everything we do possible.
